Scott Mead is an investment banker, philanthropist and fine art photographer based in London for over 20 years. He is a founding partner of Richmond Park Partners. Prior to this he was a Partner and Managing Director at Goldman Sachs retiring in 2003.From his base in London, many of his current business and philanthropic activities take him to the United States and Asia on a regular basis.
Career Background Scott Mead began his investment banking career in New York. After a number of years there with Goldman Sachs he relocated to London in 1987 as part of a small group that built Goldman Sachs' business in Europe. Scott became a Partner of Goldman Sachs in 1994 and a Managing Director in 1996. While at Goldman Sachs, Scott’s business and management responsibilities included heading European privatizations, and building and leading European and Global Communications, Media and Technology. He also served on a number of internal committees within Goldman.
Scott Mead was responsible for many of Goldman Sach’s largest clients in Europe, Asia and the United States and headed deal teams in major transactions in over 25 countries. He was centrally involved in advising many governments and political leaders during the privatization wave which swept Europe and Asia during the 1990’s as countries sought to deregulate and grow their economies to compete in a globalizing world.
Scott is perhaps best known for leading the Goldman Sachs team advising Vodafone in its successful $200 billion acquisition of Mannesmann, the largest and possibly the most complex contested transaction ever completed. In all, he led teams in completing transactions with an aggregate value of over $500 billion.
From September 2006 - September 2008 Scott was a Senior Advisor at Apax Partners and Chairman of the Technology and Telecommunications Advisory Board.

Richmond Park Partners:Scott Mead is a founding partner of Richmond Park Partners, an independent merchant bank based in London actively involved in advisory, restructuring and fund management.
Photography:Scott Mead is a fine art photographer.Looking Back Scott's first solo show took place in September 2010 at Hamiltons Gallery, London raising money for Great Ormond Street Children's Charity. His work has been sold at auction and to collections in the UK and USA. In 2011 two of his photographs were selected for the Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition in London.
Early Stage and Growth Investment: Scott has been an early stage investor with a number of companies in the communications, new media and technology areas and actively works with management to achieve rapid growth and scale. Several of these companies are in various states of fundraising and strategic transactions.
Current Philanthropic Activities
Scott is involved with a number of not-for-profit institutions in education, healthcare and the arts through the Mead Family Foundation, of which he is Founder and Chairman. The foundation is a benefactor to institutions, individuals and initiatives throughout the world. Scott’s philanthropic activities are undertaken both through the Mead Family Foundation, as well as personal commitments to a number of organizations:
Great Ormond Street Hospital: Formerly an associate non-executive director of Great Ormond Street Hospital in London and Vice-Chairman of its redevelopment appeal board; Scott also completed the New York and London marathons to raise funds for the hospital.
Tate Foundation: Member of the Executive Committee of the Tate Foundation, an entity committed to helping the UK’s most visited art museums achieve their objectives. Scott also sits on the Tate Photography Acquisitions Committee.
Cambridge University: Member of the Advisory Board of the Judge Business School of Cambridge University and a member of the University’s 800th Anniversary Campaign Board.
Harvard University: Actively involved and previouly a member of the Task Force on University Finance and the Committee on University Resources.
Phillips Academy: Charter Trustee of Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, a leading secondary school which recently adopted “need-blind” admissions.
Notting Hill Preparatory School: Co-Founder of school with nearly 200 students from ages 4-14; active engagement with local community.

Personal Background
Scott Mead is a graduate of Harvard College, Emmanuel College of Cambridge University, where he was the Harvard Scholar, and the University of Pennsylvania Law School. His other interests include politics and world affairs (he is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations), travel, tennis and running. Scott is currently attempting a marathon on every continent for charity, having completed London and New York marathons. He has been based in London for over 20 years with his family.
