Career Background

Scott Mead began his investment banking career in New York.  After a number of years there with Goldman Sachs he relocated to London in 1987 as part of a small group that built Goldman Sachs' business in Europe. Scott became a Partner of Goldman Sachs in 1994 and a Managing Director in 1996.  While at Goldman Sachs, Scott’s business and management responsibilities included heading European privatizations, and building and leading European and Global Communications, Media and Technology. He also served on a number of internal committees within Goldman.

Scott Mead was responsible for many of Goldman Sach’s largest clients in Europe, Asia and the United States and headed deal teams in major transactions in over 25 countries. He was centrally involved in advising many governments and political leaders during the privatization wave which swept Europe and Asia during the 1990’s as countries sought to deregulate and grow their economies to compete in a globalizing world.

Scott is perhaps best known for leading the Goldman Sachs team advising Vodafone in its successful $200 billion acquisition of Mannesmann, the largest and possibly the most complex contested transaction ever completed.
